Always thought the Lincoln LS was a sharp looking car. Shares a lot of parts with the Jaguar S-Type, 3.9L V8, RWD, and resale values through the floor!

This one is in Youngstown. H as 82k miles and is asking for $4k.

It’s better than the same era Mustang for sure.

There was one for sale in the buy it whole lot of a pull and pay in the Cleveland/Akron/Youngstown area. Can’t remember which yard.
Black, V6, manual, blown rear air ride. If I still lived in that part of that state I’d have bought it. They only wanted like a grand for it. A rear coil spring conversion is about $600 in parts.

I have a soft spot for the New Edge Mustang. The SVT Cobra R (specifically from Gran Turs mo 3) is what got me hooked into American muscle cars.

OOOOH I did not know these came in a manual.

Give me a new edge Cobra over first gen. S197 any day of the week.

They had a pretty good interior for the time too. Small enough for some nippy handling supposedly and, though I’ve never seen one, I imagine that combo is fantastic with a stick. One day one will be raced in Lemons and I think they could do well.

They were, and kind of a sad dead end for Ford. Sales numbers were disappointing, but they sold more to conquest buyers from import brands than they did to existing Lincoln owners. It seemed like a positive step in the right direction, and that, if they stayed the course, the next generation would improve on the idea. But, sales were not any higher than the old FWD Continental, and the LS was more expensive to build, and Ford had decided to close the Wixom plant and not have a dedicated premium/luxury car assembly facility, so it died. The Zephyr might have been cheaper to build, but sharing the doors and glasshouse with the Fusion seemed like a step back.

You could get a manual with the 6. V8 was auto only.
The sticks were rare though- I've never seen one.

Only V6s did. Cool cars.

Upsides: Fun to drive, great handling and the V8's can sound fantastic.
Downsides: Jaguar-Ford electronics, crap build quality, the automatic transmission is an absolute turd that ruins every other part of the driving experience, aftermarket support is nonexistent at best, aluminum body panel oxidization from when Ford didn’t know how to properly paint aluminum, leaky sunroofs, laughable interior material quality.
In summery, find an XJR instead and you’ll be much happier with life.

They were fun to drive. Pretty well balanced and not a lot of body roll (relative to the era they’re from)
Archduke nailed it down below.

Sounds like a good Lemons car then.

Pretty sure the LS ’s never came with air suspension... though it could have been converted.

All I remember was it was V6, manual, and squatting in back. Weird car.

Yeah, it would be. In a perfect world, one of the 3 pedal cars, but tough to find those.

Tough to find a Lincoln LS at all. I remember the interior being quite nice and not much else.

While you could get it with a manual, only if you went for the V6, which is a damn shame..
